Behind the Work

Julianne's pieces are built through color, texture, experiment, and touch.

The process changes from piece to piece. Some works are planned around a room or gift idea. Others begin with a material, a color, or a technique and become something unexpected.

How a piece comes together.

1

Idea and Direction

A piece can begin with a color palette, a theme, a room, a holiday, a person, a material, or just a creative spark.

2

Materials and Texture

Paint, resin-style finishes, pressed botanicals, wood, metallics, reclaimed materials, and raised surfaces can all be part of the build.

3

Technique and Experiment

Julianne uses layered paint, pouring effects, embedded details, sculptural forms, and fractal wood burning for pieces that need a wilder surface.

4

Finishing

Pieces are finished for the look and feel they need, whether glossy, textured, shimmering, natural, dramatic, or soft.

5

Final Character

The finished piece keeps the marks of the process. That is what makes handmade work feel alive.
